Owl Café in Buona Vista

An amazing cover of Landslide has been on loop for a couple of days already, and then it just propelled me to remember about the Owl Café. You see, this is one of the many things that this girl has been randomly raving about, and I think it’s about time that I scale the spotlight to this Straits Asian cafe. The Owl Café Concept essentially highlights what they call the Straits Asia a mixture of the Straits of Penang, Malacca, and Java, meshed into palate perfection.

The Owl Café is located at one of the nicer malls here in Singapore, the Star Vista. From the Buona Vista MRT Interchange (Yellow/Green), it’s a good ten minute walk. It’s very easy to find it, because once you take the long (right) side escalator going to the second floor area of the mall, it’s already there. If you have a weak spot for blues, browns, and laid-back lighting atmosphere like me, this one is definitely for you.

Inside the café, it’s like a very upscale version of a posh traditional coffee shop; in a way, it’s very Singapore-Malaysia like in style, but at the same time, it’s very contemporary and tasteful. Another good thing to notice here are the waiters, who are all about attentiveness and they are so swift in attending to customers.

The menu and variety of food favorites are consistent with the concept. Everything is Peranakan and Asia-inspired. They offer main courses, desserts, snacks, toasts, and hot/cold beverages. This means that the place is good for activities like gatherings, get togethers, and bonding sessions, because it can cater to anytime or any mood of the day.

Be it looped songs or daily randoms, I think the Owl Café can just be that go-to place if you’re looking for some good reminding. It’s a good reminder of all the good things you can find in a café place. It’s one of those café’s in this side of Singapore that’s worth remembering and repeating.
