The Kiasu Espresso, Tanjong Pagar

The Kiasu Espresso, The Earliest Bird in Tanjong Pagar
Here’s another
interesting coffee place we found by fate: The Kaisu Espresso. These
Singaporeans have a witty way making fun of fear – it’s what they call the Kaisu, which is actually a Chinese word that
literally means 'fear of losing'. So yes, this coffee place is a sure win
because people here are so prepared not to lose customers.
When we reached this place, aside
from its name and its pigeon of a logo, the thing that you’ll notice are the
specific coffees being sold. Specific meaning that the coffee choices are not too
many, which makes the picking and enjoying process a little bit unique and
concentrated. Of course, had to order my permanent preference: Iced Macchiato. Must admit, it’s a
little steep for a small cup, but the sophistication and savor you get out from
the drink is so evident once you take a shot, you’ll understand.
The setting is also another great story to experience – not too crowded, friendly-artsy kind of place, you know – high chairs, painted walls, showroom lights, local city-type café without any hint of commercialization - not too intimate, yet not too attention-seeking. It’s certainly a good option to take when you’re in the area, and also a good café to travel to, even if you live very far from the city. Overall, the Kaisu Espresso that won’t disappoint, only opportune moments.
