Loysel’s Toys Cafe in Lavender
The quest to find better alternatives aside for the predictable coffee choices is still open; I find my way here at Loysel’s Toys. These coffee craters are one of the most interesting finds here in Singapore. It’s unlike any of your usuals, but it’s not eccentrically unwanted. It has this suburban strum that makes people really want to relax and stay longer.
Interesting fact about this place is the story behind the name. Loysel’s Toy is a mesh of two great ideas: Loysel, who is the inventor of the world’s first commercial coffee machine, and the “toy”, which is of course, you guessed it right, the coffee machine.
This place is a good pick for your lazy Sunday afternoon study session with group mates, a long brunch, or maybe some afternoon siesta with your
family and friends. The garage effect, coupled with the almost aristocratic ambiance is just ideal for these kinds of things.
My coffee pick: Iced Mocha. Kinda obvious, but still you can’t go wrong with this pick. For 6 SGD, you’ll have a full taste of the Papa Pahleta’s coffee version, which is quite admired here in Singapore. Although it looks like a big tub of mocha, the one where you can’t pinpoint if it’s a Frappuccino or if it’s just iced – the taste is quite okay. It tastes better if you throw in some cake or cupcakes to balance out the taste of mocha. Perhaps some Black Sesame Cake. Overall, from signature coffees to place coziness, it’s still a good recommendation to try this place out.
