Malcapuya Island of Coron, Philippines
Malcapuya Island in Coron, Best Place to Beach Bum in the Philippines
Having known and experienced Coron makes me have faith in the Philippines. With more than 7,000 islands, no doubt there are more than a few beautiful pristine beaches here. But this is the spot-on choice if you’re looking for a powder-perfect-ivory-white sand beach, one that’s not too crowded, one that’s not too laid-back, one that looks like a piece of bliss. Yes, the Malcapuya Island of Coron is that, more specific - the Banul Beach in Malcapuya Island. It’s worth missing, and by missing I mean wanting, not foregoing.
It was summer when we went to this place. The imperfect heat of the sun and inconsistent humid air were no match with Malcapuya’s overall bearing. This is the first time I’ve seen and understood the gradients of nature – cloudless sapphire skies against quiet blue seabed. It was just all blue but it was perfect in every angle. There was just one line in the middle where the sky and see collides. Perfection! And then there are nature’s trimmings - defined island rocks, and the lazy white sands – it’s too good to be true, but it is.
Bumming around the beach, having fresh seafood to devour, and just overlooking city life’s complexities, the Malcapuya Island of Coron is the sweetest escape you can ever hope for, summer or not. It’s time to go back
