Visit this Gargantuan Animal Place in Asia: The Taipei Zoo, Taiwan
Taipei Zoo - The Largest Zoo in Asia
This was completely unplanned. We were supposed to go to a different more yuppie-friendly place in Taiwan, but instead, last minute we just sucked it up and went straight to the Taipei Zoo. Apprehensive? Yes. Worth it? Double yes. Check it out for yourself to find out why it’s more than worth it.
Just like how it’s done in most well-off cities, you just take a train ride to reach the Taipei Zoo. Once you reach the place, as expected, it’s crowded by tourist bus, kids, and frantic laughing. The place brings back good old school vibe because of all the youthful energy around the place. This is good as it makes you become more excited about the place. The entrance area is quite spacious, but almost always jam packed with people. You’ll see the metal insignia that reads “Taipei Zoo”, which immediately tells you – get ready for some animal reaching!
Also known as the Muzha Zoo, this is one of the best zoos you’ll ever find in Asia. Think comprehensive. Think clean. Think complete. It is in fact the largest Zoo in Asia. So expect more animals to appreciate. IF you’re allergic to all things fauna, then fear not. This place is anti-animal friendly too as they have domesticated different animals in a very creative manner. Think informative exhibitions, and different detailed environments such as an insectarium, amphibian and reptile houses, penguin and koala places, nocturnal animals display, and one of my personal favorites, panda exhibitions. Seeing these things will just give you a different perspective of adventure and it’ll just melt your heart to panda pieces.
You don’t want to miss the aviary area where you’ll see peacocks flying to reach one tree to another. Yes, I didn’t know peacocks could fly too, but they sure can! LOL Although not the eagle type of flying, but still – quite amazing. Don’t miss the penguin area too because you’ll find a lifelike Happy Feet environment here. Cold and cool! And lastly, don’t put too much anti-insect lotion on your skin because you won’t want to miss out on the opportunity of having butterflies surround you - literally (read: insectarium area). This place can offer one of the most basic yet one of the most interesting adventures known to travelers. Animal interaction at its superlative!
