Of course! Blog lull, yes. But, I’m still here. 2013 is starting to uncover its frantic and overly hectic schedule and I’m at the centerfold of everything. The expat life is starting grow in so many areas and I’m sensing the gradual shift of gears. That being said, will expat life and budget still be married? Yes - but, now that things are shifting gears, I’m starting to tweak things up a bit. Not making sense? Maybe. But, you’ll see. Stay put, stay put!

On a completely related and random note, Happy 2nd Birthday! / insert cheap champagne toast here / Haha. Wow, two bursting years of unbearable randomness – two full years of amateurish travel tips and travel escapes – two years of mellow moments and happy inspirations. Haha. Thank you for bearing these unbearables with me. Thank you to the additional thousand-thousand views who made this something to look forward to, something to aspire to do, something to escape to. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!

After leafing through last year, I’d say year 2012 was the breakthrough year for the expat life of budget travels. From Singapore, to Malaysia, Myanmar, Laos, it was all out budget travels. Until the very end, with Japan, Hong Kong, and Macau, it was still about travel life. Last year was still about Asia, but it was more about those priceless travel moments. Pricey that equate to pricelessness, yes – that too. Asia is really gorgeous, and I still stand by my mantra that Asia changes you in ways you can only dream of.  It’s humbling. It’s exciting. It’s life changing. And now with only a select few countries left to visit, I am about to graduate from this Asia fixation and move to the next phase: the rest of budget travels.

2012 expat life hasn’t been fully accounted here, but it was, how should I say it?, hmmm “hard”? Not the “so-hard-i-don’t-want-to-talk-about it” or the “hard-i-want-to-go-back” type of hard (maybe, because it’s just my first year?), but it’s more like “wow-life-is-hard” kind. And no, it’s not being negative or ungrateful – it’s just, like that. Fact. It is as it is. Epiphany. It’s hard in general, be it 3rd world or 1st world, or what have you. Life is hard, expat or not. And, as how my friend would put it, there’s always a honeymoon period in every new change. It makes you or breaks you. And, once it’s over, you see reality and you learn and live by. 2012 was that period. It was both a honeymoon period and a reality bite. A big bite for that matter. It was happiness-induced, but it has also been a big learning experience in so many facets. Expat life is hard, and just like the rest, all is still ongoing. All should be well. All will be well. That’s a guarantee.

So yes, 2013 is year 2 and I’m still here. Still doing this, expect new changes and more life honeymoons. I’ll still be here for that – will you?
