Never Miss Beijing’s Forbidden City - The Iconic Chinese Imperial Palace

Beijing’s Forbidden City, The Iconic Chinese Imperial Palace

Located in the very core of Beijing, this place once served as the domicile of emperors as well as of ceremonial and political center of Chinese government. It used to scream government communism but nowadays, it rests as an international landmark of history and culture. Even from the outside walls of the place, the area is filled with heaps of people. You’ll see a great deal of Chinese flags as well as moving flags - the ones that tourist guides would hold to assist their group in finding their ways around the place.

Once inside, wow time to spell out e.n.o.r.m.o.u.s.! The place is wide reaching. Your eye’s panoramic view won’t be a match to the whole place. You’ll witness how sea of people move around wide spaces filled with temples and signposts. Like schools of fishes. Better be prepared to walk as before you reach the temple highlights, you’ll have to walk a kilometer or two. Chinese walking skills!

The skies just compliment the temples so skillfully. It’s more beautiful than how you see it in Wikipedia or Google images. The concrete colors and strong symbolisms are just impeccable. But of course, those are just some of the highlights. You’ll get to see different translations, explanations, and inscriptions around the temples. You’ll see huge amount of red colors, with different shades of gold, green, and yellow too. You’ll see history unfold as you see the sculptures and structures, and if you’re lucky, you’ll witness a few Chinese ceremonies too.
Best personal favorite among the many that you can find here would be the closing time of the Forbidden City. You’ll hear announcements over speakers, and you’ll see frantic walking of different visitors of the place, trying to reach the exit on time. You’ll see guards and policemen and people with authority, trying to clear out the place. You’ll see how the sunset rays diligently manipulate the lighting of the Forbidden City, which makes the place pensive and stirring all at once. You’ll feel the rush of history in your veins, as if you’re back in time, trying to break out of the forbidden site.
