Yangmingshan National Park in Taipei City
Taiwan travel is exhilarating to say the least. There are so many things to see, so many foods to try, and so many experiences to conquer. One of the best places to start off with some Taiwan travel is Yangmingshan. Yes, this national park in Taipei is one remarkable place to do some wandering.

This is the tricky part as the Yangmingshan National Park is a little far from the city (read: mountain area). So to get there, you can either go by bus or by MRT then bus. The bus ride is the fun part as the zigzag uphill will really keep you awake and excited to reach the place (read: slightly dizzy). Haha. Once you reach the place, first thing you’ll feel: chills. Literally. The place is in fact a mountainous part of Taipei so expect it to be a little colder or maybe windy than normal. And did I mention that there is no fee to enter the park? Indeed all good things in life are free.

Like any park, you can do the usual: site seeing, relaxing, picnic, kite training, dog walking, and all that outdoor family friendly kind of things. Maybe you can even add some soul searching as the place is versatile enough to conquer both serenity and enthusiasm. You can also benefit from the indoor places this park has to offer, like restaurants, information centers and the like. They even offer travel guides for tourists. What to watch out for here though are the famous Cherry Blossoms. They are found abundantly here in the Yangmingshan Park (but more so in the northern part of Taipei) and they look so scenic amidst the greeneries. It’s like you’re in a classic movie.
Although there are so many relaxing things to do here, personal favorite would have to be the siesta time you can spend at the viewing decks around the park. You know – the place where you’re closer to the heavens. A place where the mists slowly envelops and then reveals the panorama of mountains and greens, covered with hushes of flowers and people. You’ll easily forget all your worries and nonsense! Haha. You’ll feel like you’re suddenly uprooted from reality and you’re in a spell. So stunning. It’s a good place to spend some time, maybe a whole day of just complete relaxation. So next time Taiwan travel is required, be sure to visit this place. It’s good for friends, families, oldies, and soloists wanting to find peace in a real life classic movie scene.
