this. There’s something about the life-after that is worth celebrating too. And
just like any kind of party, the setting is as significant as every other
detail. This is why we ensure that we honor the life-before and the life-after

hearts.
The Kranji
Commonwealth War Cemetery offers that kind of perfection and personal
preference. It’s the memorial park for the soldiers who perished during the
World War II. It shows how much Singapore celebrates the life of their unsung
heroes. Every quote and epitaph reveals much lasting impression. The whole
place is covered with layers upon layers of peacefulness.
The
entrance is shrouded with greens and grays: trees and stones that make you feel
that you are in a hallway to heaven. There are stars engraved on certain areas
of the halls to remind you of greatness-that-has-been. The engraved emblems
show different themes in many faiths. You’ll see intricate-designed eagles,
fishes, crosses, castles, crowns, and letters. You’ll also find stones of
different kinds: marbles, granites, lime stones; all of which are carved with
much depth. The hallways are embroidered with names, years, and experiences,
all giving you a picture of a daring life lived to the fullest.
It’s really one of those places that you can just sit and be still – recollect and reminisce. Don’t be wrong or what, it’s not like other cemeteries that invite scary stories. It’s more than that. It’s a place where silence can give you the utmost clarity and insight that you may desperately need. It has its distinctive way of reminding that life is fleeting, but if lived with the highest passion, it’s a life well spent.
